Muffin Tin Trial

I've been noticing a trend that's only gotten more steady as we've all been transitioning to me being a stay at home.  Lunch isn't really a meal and snacks aren't at set times like they were at daycare.  I'd heard a long while back about Bento Boxes for kids and liked the idea, just never got around to implementation.  (I know, I'm the first person this has happened to, ev-ah!)

Then, I recently started hearing more about Muffin Tins- same general principle, slightly different execution & requiring basically no additional product to purchase or clutter my home.  Fabulous!

So, today was shopping day and I thought, why not give this a try?  I threw in some extra things that aren't usually in my shopping cart (and therefore, not often on my kids' plates) and gave it a go.

The reactions were amusing.  They were excited by the idea of a surprise for lunch, not so much by what the surprise ended up being.  My good eater, tried almost everything.  My picky-high-energy eater basically just ate his fish-shaped chicken nuggest (yes, I know...), the bread and called it lunch.  I did like the ease with which I could just throw some plastic wrap over the whole thing and offer it again when they asked for a snack several hours later.  It wasn't received any better but, I tried & that's all I can do.

So, the lunch I offered today:
A)  100 calorie sandwich thin slice (my kids love this because of the odd shape it has)
B) Fish Shaped Chicken nuggets
C) Red seedless grapes
D) Cheese bits
E) Broccoli, raw
F) Grape tomatoes, halved

I think next time, I'll also provide ranch dressing and encourage dipping for the broccoli.
