Happy Mother's Day!

I am finally able to post these gifts that I made with my children this week for their grandparents.  I couldn't until today as some grandparents read my blog and I wanted it to be a surprise.  It's a simple project & one the kids truly enjoyed especially my preschooler who loved writing his own name and helping me name all the letters that went around the top of the pots.

Supplies:
Patio paints in a few colors- I found these at Michael's with their terra cotta pots in their seasonal department
Patio paint pen
Terra cotta pot and drip tray (we used the 7" size)
Potting soil
Flowers (2 little seedlings/pot depending on size)- my preschooler picked out a packet of flowers to include with the pot that needed to be mailed to a grandma out-of-state
Sponge brushes for the paint
We used paper plates for paint trays & daddy's undershirts that were trash-bound for paint smocks.

The rim reads: Happy Mothers Day Grandma ..... ~2010~

If your child can sign their name, help them sign by their hand prints. I "guided" my son's hands so he didn't make it big enough to cover everything.

We let the paint dry over night before potting the flowers in the plants.  Doing this a few days ahead of giving them allowed the flowers to sort of adjust to the new pots and look a little nicer for giving.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
