Very nice Labor Day Sale- Karen Funk

I am super excited to announce that I was chosen to participate in Dianne Rigdon's CT!  I am extremely excited to be part of her team and looking forward to her next new releases coming Tues to 2Peas.  So, maybe it's that a positive outweighs a negative, lol, because....

I admit that being turned down for a designers Creative Team is a little bit heart breaking.  Howedver, I do love Karen Funk Designs so thought I'd check her sale out at DHD this morning.  I'd sort of ignored her new releases for a time, I confess.  Hey, I'm human, right!  And it's not like she's the first designer who I got a ding letter from...  ANYWAY....

She's got 2 great kits and has done what designers don't typically do- put both elements packs at $1 so you can buy a whole kit for $2 and even added a coordinating alpha for free.  A very nice deal indeed!  So, I'm downloading now. :)

Enjoy & happy labor day!

New Release from Edeline Marta & Template Freebie!

I am working on a new weekly plan that includes scrapping 1 page a day.  My goal would be to take advantage of a Shutterfly special of 50% off photo books ending Aug 24!  I have to see how many pages are left to add to my son's album but if I can finish a quilt in a day, I can do a photo book, right?  ;)

On to the new release...

So check out the new releases at Two Peas:
Then head over to her blog and pick up the Freebie kit
And stop by and grab Heather's template too!  Hurry!  The link won't be around forever.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Scrappy Updates

Hello again!  I wanted to pop back on for a minute and give a couple of shout out's to some great stuff available for the digiscrappers (or hybrid scrappers) out there.

Shutterfly's Blog has some awesome freebie's by designer Kate Teague.  Find the third here & you can easily work your way to find the other 2.

Also, the studio I create for Owl Tree Studio is hosting another month of reduced membership.  The kits are great, folks.  I was able to design my daughter's 2nd birthday invites easily with only a small bit of one kit that comes with your membership this month.  There will also be some awesome things happening next month!  You don't want to miss out.  So, join the mailing list or become a member NOW!  You can also find them on FB.

Anyone out there started their holiday gift crafting yet?  I designed the first page for our annual calendar so far, but have probably 1000+ pictures to go through from our trip, plus finishing both the kids photo books before I can really commit to getting it completed.  I like to order early so who knows...  but it's a hit every year so it'll definitely happen!

Have a great weekend & thanks for stopping by!

Layouts!

Here's a layout from our day at the park.  This was a landmark as it was a day my son, who has had a rough time making friends since our move at places like the park, actually was interacting with a little boy there.  I was really proud of him.  He couldn't remember his name when we got in our van (we're working on those skills) but I was really proud of him.

Kit is a FREEBIE from Lucky Smith Designs: Day of Whimsy
Template is a freebie from Paislee Press: Blueprint 1B

New Release!

A great set of new releases from Lucky Smith Designs at Elemental Scraps.  It's hard for me to believe that almost 5 years ago, we had this special day where we committed our lives to each other.  40 days later, my husband went to Iraq.  And shortly after, he called to tell me about his day and I told him I'd peed on a stick.  The rest is history.  So, 5 years and 2 babies later... here we are! (Credits below, fonts & template are freebies- kits are on sale today!)

Scrapbooking News!!! (and repeat after me- FREEBIE)

The designers at Owl Tree Studio (OTS) are opening the doors today!  Come take a look!  I shared already what I did with the free kit they are giving away (here).  There's also a free coordinating alpha.  Here's another layout I did with Girl Boy Girl Designs kit Feelin' Good.  I turned it in to a quickpage that will be given out to members of OTS.  If you're not sure how a quick page (QP) works, it's simple.  The page is scrapped for you.  Just bring in a picture of your choice and put it behind the quick page layer in PhotoShop.  You can add a later on top with additional elements or journaling if you so choose.  Looking for a sample?  Download this cute freebie from Twopeas and try it out! Perfect for our little monsters...
Little Monsters

I actually wanted to try out another one by Wilna at 2Peas as well:

Anyway, here's my layout.  It was perfect for the picture of my daughter I had to scrap:
Be Still my Heart

Have some more extra storage on your hard drive?  Check this out!  An amazing kit from Polkadotplum being given away for FREE this month, a piece every week.

Exciting news! (And some freebie links!)

I am very excited to announce that I've been selected for the Owl Tree Studio Creative Team.  This is my first opportunity to create for a whole site with multiple designers.  It's got a bit of a different set up, so swing by and check it out.  A neat thing (for me personally) will be that members get to download my quick pages (EK!) and I can also create and give away templates as well.  I'll be contributing to the blog every month, too.  It's really an exciting opportunity and one I'm thankful for.

I'm also very excited that the two other designers I work with: Kerry Stewart and Lucky Smith will be both be designing soon again! YAY!

So, I've been working on a couple things for them, but can't show you what they are for now.  The site goes live August 1, so after that, you'll see.  Until then, I have a beautiful kit done by a woman I "know" from TwoPeas.  Karen Funk.  She's got some great freebies and here's a sample of one of them.  (Psst, love freebies?  Check out Elemental Scraps Blog for daily downloads!)

Working on getting my son's 4th year album ready to go and filling in some gaps where I may have missed getting layouts done before.  So, look for some older pictures coming soon as well as those documenting his poor arm.

Showing Off

I shamlessly stole my post title from a friend doing the same thing as myself- creating a layout to get some free product from a favorite designer :)  But, I also wanted to share some great news!  My layout "Lil Firecracker" was featured on Scrapbooking Magazine's July issue!  Please check it out!  I'm excited, can you tell?  Tehe.

Anyway, here's the other layout I was working on tonight. *Sigh*  My little girl...  she's just such a big girl.  I heard once (from another mother), you have a baby in the house as long as someone still sleeps with their butt up in the air.  Well, I've definitely passed that phase now.  It won't be long before she's asking for a big girl bed.  And I've no doubt that she isn't one that will climb out to tell me she's ready... she'll simply ask for it.

Kits used (all from Britt Ish Designs): Happy Little Bluebird, Messy Masks, Celery Alpha
Fonts: Firefly Castle (date), Ali's Official Font (journaling)
Leave me some love at TwoPeas
PS~ If you love Britt Ish Designs or freebies, check out the Daily Download at ScrapMatters.com.  The first installation is from Britt Ish Designs!

This week's layouts featuring Down by the Sea!

I'm thinking it will be easiest to keep up with everything if I post all the layouts I've done at once...  And, I'll shoot for Tuesdays, especially on week's Kerry is releasing new goodies to 2Peas!  Check out her new kit, Down by the Sea!  (Psst, there's also a new FREEBIE!)

So, over the past week, here's what I've come up with:

The Hounds of Manor Glen

At the Manor Glen, we visited by sister in law's hounds. There are many... my daughter loves them.
Kits: Little Boys Dream by Page Frocks, SOUseful Masks by Sine, Messy Masks by Britt Ish Designs Font: CK Journal (freebie) Second page is an extraction of the property sign put against a picture of the stream my son spent hours throwing sticks in to. I love that place.

Good Eats
The challenge was to scrap using the June Mega from Scrap Orchard and use pictures that aren't normally scrapped from the actual "getting there" or "coming home" part.  I chose the eating part! :)  Template is from Kerry'd Away Designs (and FREE).

Thank you for Being a Friend
Being a part of Kerry's Creative Team is awesome.  I was beyond excited when she approached me about it but most definitely in awe that she thoughts I was talented enough to get to create with her designs!  Anyway, she's released a new kit at Two Peas this week called Down by the Sea.  It's beautiful!  But, no seaside pictures to scrap with!  (At least until we get back from our cruise in September... hate me right now... 10 days in Europe with Disney...  yes, hate me...)   But, I digress.  The kit is beautiful for other things as well.  Here, I used her Family Grunge Masks also at TwoPeas to create a second "frame" for my picture and Carina's Journaling Stamp to create the block to tell my story.  I also had to tip my head to that beautiful Golden Girl who made us all laugh & forget that old ladies were really discussing SEX on television! RIP Rue...  So, a layout dedicated to a beautiful woman, inside and out, whom I'm lucky enough to call "friend".  Fonts: Angelic war (for friend), CK Journal for journaling and one of the Fonts for Peas to complete the "Thank you for being a... Friend" title.

Strawberry Festival Fun
Here's another layout using Kerry's New Kit plus some of her older ones as well.  Also showing the Spring Birdie Borders from Mary Ann Wise on Design House Digital.  All Credits: Kerry Stewart's Family Word Blocks, Candy Apple Embellishments, Everywhere a Sign & her new release Down By the Sea.  So, enjoy the layout.  The pictures are all from a festival this past weekend where my husband and I ran the 10K with several families from base.  I found some of the treasures at the festival to be picture worthy.  The deep fried strawberries (stuffed with buttercream, dipped in pancake batter) were amazing!  The Strawberry donuts weren't anything to write home about and the flower planters made from kids jeans and shoes, while "green" were creepy!  But, pictures speak louder than words.

Been There... Going Again!
And finally, another two-pager for the ScrapOrchard challenge with the June mega kit.  If you can't read the journaling, it's in my gallery comments section.  Basically, WE ARE CRUISING DISNEY again this fall, with the kids, in EUROPE to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary!

All items can be found in my gallery on TwoPeasinaBucket.
