Month in Review: April 2011

What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
Thanks to my Nook, I've been reading a lot lately.  I read: A Wrinkle in Time, Sing Me Home, Switched and Marked.  I also read our Disney Family Fun, Cooking Light, Simple & Delicious and Parenting magazines.

What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
The Guardians of Ga'Hoole (incredible!), Tangled
The Last Airbender .  One thing I did not watch was the Royal Wedding.

What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
We did a lot of fun things leading up to the deployment.  We took the kids to do minigolf, swimming, the aquarium and just had a nice time as a family before things got too crazy...

What gifts did I give and/or receive?
I still owe my niece that gift.  One day, I swear!  I did finish my best friend's baby quilt!  Here's a photo of the finished piece.

What special or unusual purchases did I make?
We bought my husband a Xoom.  It's pretty cool.  I also had to get a couple replacement hooks since my crochet hooks have disappeared!  I blame those under 4 feet.

What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
The pinched nerve turned in to numbness down my left side whic persisted enough to concern me.  The MRI showed everything was normal and honestly, I cancelled the follow up because it was on base and I wanted to spend the time with my husband doing fun things rather than there.  If it comes back (it did finally go away), I'll pursue the issue again with civilian drs.

What were my accomplishments this month?
Two major ones- I ran a half marathon in just over 2 hours and I promote to Director effective this month!  Hurrah!

What were my disappointments this month?
Deployment stink.

Anything else noteworthy to include?
I'm just thankful for a lot- to have a spouse whose presence is missed when he's not home, to have caring friends, to have a lot of people cheering us on and supporting us in prayer during this difficult time.  Thank you.
But really, the rain can go away now...  we need the sun and to play outside.
