I've got an addiction...

it's cloth...

I guess I don't really know when it happened.  Maybe it was the 4th grade Earth Club I joined in my very liberal small college town.  Who knows...  But I am willing to admit now that I am quite crunchy in many aspects, though I still enjoy my diet coke before noon.

So, in preparing for our third baby, and our first baby with me as a SAHM, and in a house where I've never had a newborn, I caught myself in a tad of a freak out about 2 weeks ago.  I had all this cloth.  I love buying cloth diapers.  I love washing cloth diapers.  I love how cute my babies look wearing cloth and how much more comfortable it seems to be for them. (And, ahem, how fast my daughter potty trained- 16 months.  Not that I'm bragging, lol.)

I started searching, not just for great cloth deals, but for organizational ideas.

It became apparent to me, after talking to a couple MOPS moms with their third little ones having recently arrived, that I was going to need a changing station both up and down stairs and would most likely use the downstairs more extensively.  We have a 3 bedroom house now and since we didn't find out what gender baby #3 is, the only "room" that is set up for him or her is ours.  Again, fine since I tend to cosleep for the first 2-3 months.

Anyway, we found a changing table that was, a bit wobbly, but in very nice condition and with an actual wood top as opposed to particle board for $45 (with military discount) at a used kids store.  I am excited to have some storage under it and paired it with square utility totes to manage the supply of diapers I already have.  But, I needed to organize more "stuff" like the wipes, extra outfits, PNP sheets, etc.

So, when I saw this blog post on Kelly Wels FB page, I knew I had found what I wanted!  I headed to Babies R Us for the bins and also to Michael's because I had an idea.  I wanted to add grommets to where the ribbon goes in and out of the boxes to add some strength to the unit.

We ended up using an Exacto knife to cut through the cardboard in the tote bins but it worked beautifully!  I used the original bloggers idea to put hooks up for the toys/covers to dry out.  And love the way the bins add extra storage.  I laid mine out in a similar fashion, but here's the breakdown.

On the Changing Table:
Top left Square Utility (SUT): Fitteds
There's a Littles Carry All Caddy that has all the medical stuff- thermometer, nipple cream, etc.
Behind that is a stack of PF's just in case.
In the right SUT: Pockets and AIO/AI2.
Bottom Left SUT: Extra supplies for downstairs- PNP sheets, Boppy covers, receiving blankets, etc.
Bottom Right SUT: Extra Clothes for Baby

The Extra Storage Bins:
Level 1: Diaper Cream/Wipes Spray bottle, Snappis/Paci clips, Wipes
Level 2: Covers
Level 3: Extra inserts
Level 4: Wet bags, pail liners, etc

I am SO happy and finally feel like I know what I "need" to cross off my "ready for baby" list which is becoming more important as I sit here at 38weeks 1 day...

There will be more about exactly what's in those bins...  Stay Tuned!
